PAs – help shape a research project on gender and sexuality in PA work

Are you a PA to a disabled person, or have worked as a PA?

· Have gender or sexuality come up in your work?

· Would you like to take part in a discussion about these issues?

All participants will receive £25 payment for their time as well as reimbursement for any costs incurred.

A research project is looking for PAs to take part in focus groups exploring the PA role. You can find out more on the project website here: https://supportingsexualitiesstudy.wordpress.com/participate-in-this-research/

In these sessions, we will ask about the support PAs provide, and how gender and sexuality matter for PA work. PAs won’t be asked about their employers. Instead, we have created fictional vignettes inspired by the experiences of young disabled adults who work with PAs.

Vignettes are short stories that explore a situation which we will ask you about. These explore what young disabled people see as good support, challenges they encounter in getting good support, and ideas for PA’s going into this job role.

Through discussing these vignettes, we particularly want to explore people’s knowledge about trans and non-binary identities in the context of providing personal support. Our focus groups will kept small so we can discuss these issues in a way that is helpful to you.

If you think you might want to take part in this research or just want more information relating to this research, we would like to hear from you. Please contact Ned at Northumbria University by the 31st of March.
